Let Me See Your Collections!
Posted by Lunalie on May 19, 2019 at 10:11 pmSo we have so many different types of people here, I’d love to see things you’re collecting! It could be knicknacks, weird rocks, coins, anime figurines, anything you like to hoard in your space. I find that gathering a lot of similar things can hold a sort of energy for my personal haven.
I’ll post mine in a bit when I get home.

@Lunalie If I have money, I would collect lots and lots of books! I am particularly interested in guides and how-to books because they contain information that I can look over and over many times. I would say stickers are what I tend to collect also, especially the kawaii ones (Rilakkuma, My Neighbor Totoro, Cats, etc.)

I haven’t added anything to this collection for years, but I have a whole drawer of erasers. A few of them are your everyday kind, but most of these are specifically made with collectors in mind.
I think my favourite is this makeup pallate. It has fully functional hinges, and has brushes and “makeup” inside.
My second favourite are these Kokeshi dolls. Someone brought these back from Japan for me.
A good portion of these are Japanese food for some reason. I’m not mad though, they’re cute. I actually have several bento sets.
-
Somewhere, I have a whole bunch of the dessert line of those erasers!
-
Oh that’s so cute! I have a couple of those:
They’re a bad purchase for me, though. They’re too cute to use!

I have a relatively small but growing collection of mugs, but they’re currently packed away from a recent move. I’ll show them off once I get them unpacked.
-
No good picture of either of these, but I have one official active collection I’m working on (owning all released Fleetwood Mac albums on vinyl) and one unofficial collection (I tend to kidnap rocks from significant outdoor places I’ve visited, such as the top of Mount Elbert in Colorado, or the site of Constantine’s summer palace in Nicaea/Iznik, Turkey).

So this isn’t one of my collections but it’s still cool. This is my mum’s collection of taxidermy owls, she’s obsessed with them.
Also I hope books don’t count as a collection as I’m pretty sure all of us will be guilty of having massive library’s of books

I collect rocks and raw gemstones. Like @Viviane I have a nice collection from various states and countries I’ve been to. I’ll post them later when I get off work, if I remember!
Side note: not to toot my own horn, but I’m pretty adept at being able to feel a gemstone’s
“energy”. I have acouple in my collection for that very reason, because I liked the energy they emitted and the effect the stone had on me.

As many of you know, we used to have a Cabinet of Wonders in our office to hold all sorts of beautiful and weird things. Things we’ve found and things you’ve sent us.
Since AG+ we found we needed more room in the office for making things like the AG Papergoods monthly shipment, so we’ve replaced the Cabinet with a beautiful old letterpress printer’s drawer we found. It’s going up on the wall by our dry erase board, but because the cubbies are small, only certain things fit. We’re excited to fill up the new “Cabinet of Wonders”…

I’ve started a collection of tea cups and teapots:
I’m sad that I’ve already run out of space for teapots. I LOVE TEAPOTS.
-
Ooh these are lovely. I’m always on the lookout for blue and white sets like you have at the back of the bottom shelf. I only have one full set but like 6 different teapots.
-
@Sellalellen I found the blue & white set in a charity shop – I was stoked to find them!
Teapots are so pretty, I really struggle to resist them…
-
-
That turquoise cup in the center is gorgeous! I have a tiny collections of teacups from my mom’s (possibly great-)aunt. They aren’t a matching collection but I love them!
-
Wow, that blue teapot is beautiful! And I love your Alice in Wonderland tea set.
-
Thanks @Revenir! The Alice in Wonderland ones were gifts and they’re seriously some of the best gifts I’ve ever received
-
-
-
Me too. I need to host more tea parties in order to justify it I think
-
I love all of these! My dad, the most macho guy I know, collects teacups also.

-
Thai amulets…this is maybe 10% lol

Here’s my small crystal collection, about half of my plushie collection, and my random figurine collection. A lot of the little ones came from gacha machines in japan!

I wasn’t always a collector, but FunkoPop figurines changed that! I only have four at the moment, but once I have more money (and shelf space) there are a couple I am actively searching for across my frequented stores. More recently, I’ve started collecting sets of dice—specifically, 7-dice sets used in tabletop games. I have four sets so far, but I’m always open to pretty sets that won’t put me back financially. My excuse for this one? I am teaching myself to be a Dungeon Master for future D&D games, so I say, “All of these dice come in handy when I have to deal with a lot of monsters/numbers/etc.”.

I have over 900 books currently packed away ready for moving, and well over 2000 Magic the Gathering cards, also packed away. I have a figurine collecting problem too, but they are, you guessed it, packed away. My new house will have a room that is going to be the library/board games/bean bags room, so when my books are put away in there and my figurines are back up I’ll happily show them off! I tend to accidentally hoard stuff…

These collections are so big and lovely! Mine are less beautiful but I do love them. I don’t have a picture of any of mine bc they’re mostly at my uni accommodation at the moment, but I have a collection of dinosaurs I’ve found on the ground (prize item: very sticky squishy dinosaur from bus), a collection of stuff from charity and pound shops that I’m slowly accumulating enough of to send in little care packages to my friends, and. hear me out – a collection of my hair to make into period-appropriate hair pads to achieve bouffant early 1900s hairstyles. gotta be me and it turns out that involves keeping a little cardboard box full of hair on my drawing table.
I love that plushie collection Lunalie!! my flatmate has a stuffed animal collection and I have oft secretly wished they had a couple more otters and pokemon for cuddling.
-
Here is my book/board game collection. This isn’t actually all of my books – there’s another bookcase on it’s way to me, and I’ve got plenty to fill it with.
This is my favourite room in the whole house.

-
It’s the first time I’ve ever been the one in my friendship group with the “cool house” and it’s very exciting haha
-
-
If you’re ever in the neighbourhood you can come share it for a bit

-
Woah, that’s amazing! Almost looks like part of a library, or a tabletop gaming store…

If I had that many bookcases, I probably wouldn’t have felt forced to get rid of/given away as many books as I have.

@BrokenVoid and @Rimor pestered me to post pictures of my personal/raider medkit so this won’t have any of the paramedic or trauma stuff that I use when i’m doing ride along’s or when i’m interning at the hospital. Also I took these all on my phone so I apologize for the quality, angle, etc.
That’s the update outside with my patches.
