These are all from last year, but I’ll try and kick things off
No idea why I’m Balimoran…

I went to Waterton Lakes National Park yesterday. I figure these fit here.
First off, the mountains en route to the park.
Waterton Lake. The mountain in the second picture of this set is named Vimmy.
There was a big fire in 2017 and the trails have finally been opened again. This patch of earth with scattered rocks and dead branches used to be a dense forest.

(Spitting this post into into 2)
Even though the trees are gone, life is thriving. There is moss and small plants growing even on the charred logs.
This is a view from Bertha Lookout. There used to be so many green trees up the side of the mountain. It won’t look like it used to for another 50 years now.
Back to the plant life, we have blue crocuses, and then sage growing in a rock.
Lastly, sheep!

I’m going up to the Poconos this weekend. I’ll see about posting pictures when I get back!
-
fancy shmancy game of throne themed dinner i went to.
Let me see… if i remember correctly, new foods i tried tonight were… pinot (white wine), duck, sangria, and golden beets. I also tried blue cheese but i couldnt stomach it and then i tried to drink something to chase it but it was gin and then i was on the seat dying for like ten seconds xD
-
Not a fan of pinot myself, nor blue cheese.
We spotted deer on the way in to the cabin on Friday. The salamanders come out when it rains, which it was doing Friday. The next pic is the view from my bedroom window, and the last is from when we hiked around the lake and down to the waterfall it feeds into.
-
Blue cheese
I have a very nice Cambozola in the fridge which my neighbour kindly gave me

I’ve been called by the tides this weekend. Even in a big city like Toronto I had to find some!
It’s called Tommy Thompson Park and what was striking other than the beautiful lake Ontario was the amount of construction garbage on the “beach” … You can even see some bricks made round by the water.
-
As a new Mountie I’ve been exploring the forum and came across this thread and decided to stop by and say hey!
Here is a picture of my partner and i camping- does anyone know whether there are any magiq spells for flame conjouring?

My dad recently moved to GA so we decided to take a cross country road trip from CA to GA. Here are some photos:
^Creeply our road trip animal we got from a skill crane because we didn’t know what the heck he was. He blesses our journey with good fortune.
^ Area just before the hoover dam
^ the road at the grand canyon. Our motel room we got for the night was just on the south rim!
^I don’t specifically know where this is, between CA and TX
^ Finally, taking a break from chopping up debris at my grandparents’ farm. The hurricanes that winter hit my family’s area of south GA pretty hard so I was doing some cleanup (you can see some of the downed pines in the back).
BONUS:
^My cat, Lola, after we were reunited at my grandparent’s house. She slept like that for basically the whole week I was there.

highlights from my orlando trip! Arcade is “Arcade Monsters”, which is a “pay 15$ and play as many video games as you want as much as you want” deal, super hipster place complete with craft beer. Dude in the goss shirt is grim, a fellow mounty! The street with the american flag and canopy is in winter park, which is this super fancy shopping district just outside orlando proper. The medieval looking stuff was taken at diagon alley in universal studios, where i spent all of yesterday. Never did go into that candy factory
the book was cool, you all know that story
Today i spent at the beach, screaming my dominance at the sea and largely failing.
-
Approve of changing the basketball themed place into steampunk Wonka factory.
(It used to be basketball themed, would make me a bit on edge with the hoop they had outside when people were inevitably throwing balls; I have a bad history with basketballs)
-
Equally bad history with basketballs here. What a weird theme change, huh!
-
I think they may have torn down/totally gutted the place for that change, it’s been a while.

these are beautiful photos, thank you for sharing!
I don’t usually go out, but that’s a habit I’m trying to break. here’s a view from Cramond Island, a small (can walk around it in an hour or two) island in the Firth of Forth (off Edinburgh), accessible at low tide. Came here for a wedding a few months ago and slept on a yoga mat in Danger House, one of the abandoned concrete military buildings, as a hell of a storm blew every bit of warmth out of the hole in the wall. I’m pretty sure the hill in the distance is Arthur’s Seat?
-
-
haha yeah! there’s some etymological puzzle over where the name comes from but it probably boils down to People Like Rhymes
-
-
That certainly looks like Arthur’s Seat!! I spent a semester in Edinburgh and it’s still my favorite place I’ve ever lived, though I never made it out to Cramond. Thanks for sharing!!

These were from my trip to Wyoming in ’17 to go see the Total Solar Eclipse!
Our trip up from Colorado
The sun setting on us (we didn’t get to where we were staying til 2am because I had work the day prior)
My first photo of the eclipse
Zoomed in
That little light off to the left is a planet! (I don’t remember if it was Venus or Mars)
Crescent shadows, you can also see just how bright a day out it was before and after the eclipse
And finally the beautiful sunset on our drive back home!
-
Hey everyone, so while I’ve got a little service, here are a couple pics from the office this week.
I’ll post more as the season progresses and I have oppurtunities. Stay safe out there!
-
-
I don’t really… Go places…
But sometimes the sky looks like a whole new world to me
Apologies for the bad phone camera pics
-
That actually captured the sky really well! (can sympathize with the difficulties of working with a phone camera)
-
-
Check to see if your phone has an HDR setting. It’ll take the photo, copy it three times, over expose one and under expose the other. Then it overlays the three on top of one another and helps fill out shadow areas like the buildings.
Ashburn’s right though, the sky was captured really well.
-
finally got around to emptying my camera of orlando photos. Heres some highlights.
-
Here are some of my favourite shots from Hong Kong! I was only there for a few months, and it’s a wonderfully photogenic city.
Also, I can’t directly upload my edited pictures because of file size, and I’m at peak laziness tonight so I just won’t do a workaround OTL
-
I’m out at Cragside today!! Gonna check out what’s new in Lord Armstrong’s house and have a walk around the gardens!
-
There is a park in Nashville where fairy houses have appeared! I was going through my phone and found the pictures and thought you would all enjoy seeing the magic too!
-
I went to Chicago for Pokemon Go Fest and watched the city get swallowed by fog:
-
Not much of an adventure, but I had to share where I just had lunch (which is just a 5-10 min walk from my work placement):
-
More photos to come, but today is Day 1 of my weeklong trip to meet an xbox friend if mine in Arizona!
The BEAUTIFUL view of the forest just south of Flagstaff!!
-
The wait is over! Now sharing some of my favourite Arizona trip photos!
Me on the left, meeting my Xbox friend of 7-8 years!
What’s a trip to Arizona, without Standing on the Corner in Winslow??? (The Eagles are wonderful)
Had to visit the Four Corners National Monument, of course!
Lastly, home sweet home!!
-
Took a road trip with my girlfriend to Mackinaw City, Michigan and Mackinac Island. We climbed the 207 steep steps up to Arch Rock. Weather couldn’t have been better.
-
Awesome! I’ve always wanted to go to Mackinac! Is it still true that there are no cars there?

Survived the first month, so I guess I’ll post up pictures.
I’m living in Korea now! For at least a year. So far it’s been great, but the next few months will really tell if it’s where I want to be for any longer or not. I’m in a small-ish city, so there’s not too much around, but the train station isn’t too far.
-
-
I’m pretty lucky! The air quality tends to be a bit better in my area, and it’s monsoon season right now and the rain keeps it clear and pretty as heck. Humid as all get out, though, and around 80-95F starting at 7AM.
-
-
-
Woah that’s really cool! What made you want to move to Korea?
-
No real reason, to be honest! Some people I know had visited/lived there, so when I was looking for my next move I decided to give it a try. The visa was a bit easier to get than the other ones I was looking at, so that helped.
I’ve been living internationally for the past six years, and it’s the first time I’m back in Asia for more than sixth months so I’m pretty excited!
-
-
I really wanna visit South Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
-
Oh man, I don’t think I’ll ever make the trip up to the DPRK, but good luck if you do!
-
I’ve been reading a book called “Don’t go there” and it’s about all these weird niche countries in the world that Adam visits. The last place he visits is the DPRK and it just sounds so cool and quirky!
-
I…don’t think I’ve ever heard those words being used to describe the DPRK, tbh.
-
Most of what everyone knows about the DPRK is media fear mongering, you can’t truly know a place till you’ve been and seen it for yourself. Another place I really wanna go is Chernobyl! The wildlife there is absolutely nuts

I’m half Korean… I confirm that the North is not a good place to go. Doesn’t matter who you are. Just don’t.
-
-
oh my gooooosh a valley full of horses! That has to be the real most magical place in the world.
-
We have about 40, including the mules, that we use for guided trail rides, pack trips, and back country hunting and fishing trips. So that only a small portion of them.

I had a few days off (and enough funds) so I went up to Seoul and bummed around the palaces/museums. Also partied hard with some fellow hostel goers, but there’s no picture evidence of that, thankfully.
-
I want to go back to Korea so badly…
Meanwhile in Hershey…
-
Hello all, I’ve been reading through these posts and some of these places are on my travel bucket list for sure! I’m leaving tomorrow for a 2 month trip through North Africa for a research trip with a few of my classmates from University. I’m most excited for Morocco and Egypt! Anyone have any recommendations for free days? I will be in Marrakesh and Cairo respectively and will have 3 days of free time in each country. Will have to use ground transportation to get around.

I went to Silver Springs Lake today to go cliff jumping. I didn’t remember to take any photos while I was there, but I took plenty on the way there and back.
This is Turtle Mountain and Frank Slide. There used to be a mining town here. A native tribe warned the miners that there were frequent earthquakes and that the mountain wasn’t stable. They even called it The Mountain that Moves. but the miners ignored them, as the settlers believed the natives to be primitive and superstitious.
One day, the mine collapsed, and half the mountain with it. The town of Frank is still buried somewhere under all that rubble.
On the hike up to the lake, I found several beautiful plants and flowers, including the biggest maple leaf I’ve ever seen. It’s bigger than my head! I also gathered a bouquet of other flowers and foliage to dry.

Had my brothers wedding over the weekend. I found planes

Had my brothers wedding over the weekend. I found planes

Walking around the forest garden, unfortunately I can’t see it for the trees
-
Channeled my inner Deirdre Green and visited Hudson and the Catskills this weekend! The town was so charming and it was so nice to get away from the city and into some nature! Also got major King Rabbit vibes from one of the antique shops in town…
-
Very beautiful building and scenery, but oof I would never have that statue in any space where I live.
-
That house is gorgeous and I might have nightmares about that statue now…
-
I want the statue… No joke, I want him to live in my window overlooking the backyard. I feel like he’d scare off anything that would attempt to disturb my space, and we would be hermit-best-bunny-buddies forever.

This week marks the anniversary of a local Civil War battle, so the battlefield had some special activities this past weekend. Yesterday we went and checked out a few and I took these during the cannon firing re-enactment.
-
I remember walking and exploring through the Aspen Grove when I was 8 years old, it was a beautiful place, with a tree so big around a class of 30 4th graders could go fingertip to fingertip and not quite make it all the way around the trunk of this lovely deep amber brown barked tree that was the oldest living tree in the Aspen Grove (located outside of Heber/Overgaard Arizona, about 30 minutes to an hour), though granted, this was before the Rodeo-Chediski fire in 2001, as a child, I was enchanted, even found a fairy ring, with many other amazing and tranquil feelings and sights. I have no clue if the Aspen grove is still there after the fire, and I hope that the tree that was over 3,000 years old aurvived, but one day, I would like to go back, and take my children there as well. I remember scratching the bark of 3 different trees, and smelling strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate as well in that grove.
-
-
no, this one is just a 30 minute drive outside of heber arizona, not in utah.
-
and the giant tree I am talking about itself is not an aspen tree, but some sort of Pine I think, surrounded by other pine trees, intersperesed with Aspen trees.

Im on a whirlwind of adventure recently- I was just in Korea and now I’m in Seattle!! (Time to see if these images will post from mobile…)
-
Anyone have suggestions for places to visit in the Outer Banks in North Carolina? I’m going there in a week.
-
I take every opportunity to be in nature, most especially old-growth forests.
Here’s one from a recent trip to Oregon– we were hiking in to a fairly remote alpine lake for some camping and I stopped to take a couple photos because the light was beautiful and made the forest feel like a magical place where something fantastic and ancient might be lurking just around the next corner.
-
Went for a much-needed weekend in the Poconos with family.
My shoulder muscles are so sore after kayaking for the first time in nine months
-
OMG! I’m on my annual family vacation in the Poconos right now!
-
But where I stay, there’s no internet, no cell service. I love it!
-
@Connielass, that IS nice! We have 17 people together, 5 of whom are teenagers. Living without wifi & cell is not an option!!

Big time Neithernor vibes on this nature walk I went on with my boys this afternoon. They said it was like a wizard’s house, and now they’re gathering herbs to make a potion.

A selection from adventuring within 5miles of home. Was really great to see friends but I’m now out peopled and very tired.
-
That’s within 5 miles of your home??? That’s gorgeous!!
-
Yeah, we’re really lucky!
Photos are from 2 areas.
The Hafod Estate recently reopened it’s carparks following reduction of lockdown restrictions.
And Coed Maenarthur regular walking area, never got closed but is significantly less well known.
