Another amazing session! Here’s a recap for those who want to stay up to date but don’t have the time or means to watch the video:
Following the events of last session, the players continued inside their Coven Hall, resuming their investigation of the strange items that Darleanna Vance, Captain of the Eratosthenes, had left for them. Cass made a large breakfast while the coven mates poured over the tiny scraps of parchment and examined the key in greater detail.
It didn’t take them long to translate the Middle English words on the scraps of paper:
wicchinge = witching
þæ = the
castlelet = castle
apprille = april
houre = hour
byniðan = beneath
þritti = thirty
ivorien = ivory
“Beneath the Ivory Castle witching hour April Thirty”
For a moment, they wondered if there was something magimystical happening beneath the White Castle restaurant on the edge of town, but they dismissed that idea as silly and instead surmised the most likely structure that could be the “ivory castle” was the Lighthouse. What could possibly be beneath it, they weren’t sure. There were a number of cave entrances near the Lighthouse that local teenagers used for parties and such, but beyond that, they had no idea.
They iron key that Darleanna sent, however, was not very forthcoming with answers. It had three numbers along its side: 41 2 5. Beyond that, it was very old, pitted, and inexpertly made. Once Thea examined it thoroughly, she realized it was designed to be used on a very old and unsophisticated lock.
The coven mates decided to head to City Hall and look for schematics on the Lighthouse. Once they finished breakfast, Cass used the magic of the Coven Hall to manifest a dishwasher to clean the dishes they used, but when she opened the machine to place dirty dishes inside, tiny hands reached out of the dishwasher and snatched the dishes away. Inside Cass could hear tiny voices arguing over who would get to clean the dishes.
They players found this quite disturbing.
Once this “demon” dishwasher had been loaded, Alex spent a moment to imagine his office before they all stepped through the Coven Hall’s front door.
It didn’t take long for them to find what they were looking for. Luke was especially lucky when he came across an old map with what looked like an original design sketch of the Lighthouse on the back. The Lighthouse was originally built around the 1860s-1870s, but had been renovated twice since then: once in the late 30s and again in the 60s (it’s long overdue for another renovation, but limited city funds need to be allocated elsewhere). By comparing the schematics of the renovations with the original design sketch that Luke found, Thea discovered that the original Lighthouse had a basement of sorts: a larder. However, it appeared to have been covered up during the most recent renovations.
The coven mates decided to head home and gather supplies they would need that night at the Lighthouse. Alex went back to the Coven Hall to fetch the Coven Tome (while there, the dishwasher opened and one of the things inside blew a kazoo and announced in a tiny yet gravelly voice that the dishes were done).
Later that night, they all met at White Castle (one of only two places in Stony Harbor that’s open 24 hours). Erik had enough supplies with him that the coven could colonize a small planet if they chose to while Lani all the rope in Stony Harbor that wasn’t already being used. The others were a bit more conservative, but still had plenty to deal with unforeseen circumstances: food, first aid kit, water, etc. All except Alex. It was the Lighthouse, after all, and just a short drive away.
The Coven piled into Cass’s “Mom Van” and headed to the lighthouse.
Upon arriving a little after 11:00 at night, they saw three cars parked about a hundred yards from the Lighthouse. They recognized two of the vehicles: one belonged to Bill Valducci, a 22-year-old who has been known to hang out with Alex’s brother, the other to Mr. and Mrs. Marcotte, and accountant and real estate agent respectively. Alex was especially confused by the idea that the Marcottes would be here until Luke wondered if they had any children. They did, a teenaged boy named Devin.
As they gathered their belongings, they noticed a tiny flicker of orange light beneath an old wooden awning attached to the side of the Lighthouse used to keep firewood dry. They weren’t sure what it could be until Luke cast Tsukiyami’s Eyes. The spell allowed him to “zoom in” on the awning and saw four teenagers passing a joint around and looking back at the Mom Van, wondering who it might be.
At this moment, Thea cast Complexis and manifested a handheld police light and siren. Upon seeing and hearing this, two of the teenagers ran in opposite directions, disappearing in the dark while the other two stayed under the awning. Alex called out, demanding they stay where they were.
The coven approached and found two boys very high and looking scared. Alex had them call rides to pick them up before sending them away. Once their ride arrived and the teenagers left, the coven prepared to head inside the Lighthouse.

Dying watching Mike say “sewers beneath the White Castle restaurant” with a straight face. XD
