Deirdre’s just come back from Neithernor with a new journal entry, and it’s a big one.http://www.deedsdone.co.uk/2017/08/25/the-three-manners-of-magiq/

Okay, I have to sit in a corner and process this for a while.
All I can say is that perhaps the Campfire is somehow producing more magiqal power for us to draw from…
-
That looks like she’s been to Balimoras guild hall… It sounds breath taking, as most things in Neithernor do.
Three types of magic… That’s an incredible concept! I wonder if our affinities are all mundane magic? Or some forgotten arts…
-
So Lauren and The Cagliostro were performing versions of wrought magiq? Which is why it seemed more… primal?
-
Probably, and this is what Colby meant when he said all that was left if our world were “mundane magiqs” before he performed the Tome Kindling/Communion on Sullivan’s journal with DG.
At least now we have a better understanding of the “physics” of the force we’re using.
-
-
Could that be the Balimora guild hall? I… I really want to see it. It sounds amazing…
Good job on the find Deidre!
-
-
I believe he is, not here… Not in any concept we can understand, but I truly believe he is.
The best we can do for him now is open the book, and create the future for his daughter he always wanted for her, a future where magiq is available and the doors of Neithernor open.
-
-
Does this mean that the “Storm” was created with primal Magiq?
-
That’s a really good theory. And maybe the reason that there’s so little magic currently is that, because the Storm is Primal Magiq, it eats up maqic as it “lives”.
-
-
Well. To get Fragment 13, we needed a series of directions to unlock the Chronocompass. To get Fragment 14 going, we needed a different set. Perhaps this is more significant than we knew.
And perhaps our work with Fletcher Dawson will lead us to a set of directions that will help Deirdre find her way closer to the red house.
Itsuki was more right than he could have imagined. About magiq in storytelling. In creation. Maybe he was on to something before any of us ever knew it. I wish he were here to be a part of this time with us, when everything is happening so fast.
Neithernor.
-
I just went to the brownstone after work because I hadn’t heard from Dee.
The front window was completely shattered and the journal was on the living room floor, open, covered in glass.
I have no idea what’s going on or where Deirdre is.
-
I’m only going to like that so it gets noticed, but I don’t like it one bit.
That’s absolutely terrible, Cole. I hope you’re doing okay. I hope you’re safe. I don’t really know what to say, or what to do, but I trust you know the Mounties are here for you and for her.
-
Is anything missing besides Deeds? Any sign of the compass?
-
I don’t think anything else is missing. Not sure. No compass.
-
Okay, more baseline stuff. Is stuff missing she’d take if she went out into town, like her wallet, bag and license? Stuff she might not take to Neithernor?
-
She has a thousand bags. But I can’t find her phone or her wallet.
-
This is gonna sound stupid but have you tried calling the phone?
-
-
-
-
-
Does it look like anything was searched? Like other papers or items shifted around?
-
I… oh God, Cole.
The journal was open, did it say anything new? Were there any other signs?
(Have we checked King Rabbit’s gag social media?)
On second thought, if the police show up, it may not be good for Cole to be walking around in there.
-
My first thought was also that damn rabbit! I hope she’s okay!
-
-
Everythings there? Have you checked the door to see if someone attempted to reach Neithernoor?
-
-
I’m very tempted to send a stern message to the Rabbit. I’m not a big fan of his games.
-
I’m gonna check around the neighborhood and keep trying her cell. Maybe somebody broke in but she wasn’t here?
-
(post withdrawn by author, will be automatically deleted in 24 hours unless flagged)
-
No – @CRSumner, check around the Ramble in Central Park. She knows from her Dad’s messages that the Storm can’t enter there. I can’t shake the feeling that we’re dealing with more than a common burglar.
-
I agree. I’m very worried that this is more serious than a common burglary.
-
-
-
-
If she’s not in the neighborhood, or back by the time you get back…
She may be in Neithernor.
If you can get a door to knock at you. Try to go to the warren.
Lower left, upper left, left, right, lower right, upper right, right.
If not there try whatever that glade is.
Left, upper left, upper left, lower left, right, upper right.
If you can’t get a door to knock for you or you can and don’t find her in those places… Read the journal and see if she’s been to the Ramble and gotten anything new to show up. She may have knocked her way somewhere else. (Credit to @Deyavi for the suggestion.)
If all that fails and there’s nothing new in the journal. You’re going to hate me for this, but take the journal and get to the Ramble, hopefully that cave underneath. Her disappearance may be connected to Fragment 15. This wouldn’t be the first time that saving someone from something as a part of a fragment.
-
I’m also suspicious that it’s connected to the Ramble somehow…or that there will at least be a clue there.
-
-
-
This is really concerning… Her apartment was broken into, but nothing was stolen aside from the chronocompass?
I don’t think it’s the Storm. I suspect the Council’s protection covers Deeds as well, but even without that… I don’t think the Storm needs to break windows to get someone. I’m not sure about King Rabbit…I dunno if he’s even around now without the power of the Council, and he was creepy and chaotic but not outright evil. At the very least, we know whoever did this needed to physically break into the brownstone, so that’s…something?
-
Okay, lets make a list of suspects, and for a moment assume it was someone targeting Deeds:
King Rabbit (Like many of you he is the first that came to mind), Teddy or god forbid any Kemetic scum that survived the storm, or it could be a threat we don’t know of.
Heres the thing, if it IS King Rabbit, and Im kinda praying it was, chances are this was set up by Sullivan through the council.
EDIT: @CRSumner please let us know you are okay, its been over two hours since we have heard from you last.
-
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of Teddy. He definitely came to mind, and since he was able to infiltrate the Basecamp, he would know all about Deeds and her blog… The only question is did he survive the Storm? He might be a zombie like the ’94s…
Also, excellent point that, if King Rabbit is still kicking, it might not necessarily be a bad thing.
-
-
I doubt Teddy would go in personally, that rat would for sure send someone else to do his dirty work. My fear is that if youre correct, and the storm is indeed controlling him… I mean, I can’t imagine what the storm could do with the amount of knowledge Deeds had on Neithernor and magic.
-
Remember, the Storm came found Sullivan as he was exiting Neithernor per one of his recent messages. That’s what made me think of it; Deeds has been in and out of there quite a bit lately.
-
-
Oh my god guys. She wrote a note inside the back cover of the journal. I just saw it when I got back. I’m such an idiot…
“It came for me. I’ve been trapped in Grey’s apartment for two days. Locked in against the storm. It’s in the walls. Trying to get in, even through phone. I need help. It knows I’ve been to Neithernor. Followed me here.”
What the hell do I do?
-
Stay calm, thats the best thing you can do for her. We need to think this through…
How can we get her out?
-
knocking
we need to get her knocking to neithernor,
and also, be safe Cole. please.
take the journal. and did you check the ramble yet?
-
Can we get to Gray’s apartment via Neithernor? Is there any sort of knocking combo we missed that could open a door from Neithernor to there?
-
That’s what I was thinking, but if she could knock away from the apartment she would’ve right?
-
Well, the knocking is a two way street right? It has to make the fist move, so to speak?
-
Do we have anything we know of that could repel the Storm, even for a little while?
-
-
-
-
Stay calm. Think, where would Deidre go if she was being hunted, unless she is still in Neithernoor that is. And use extremel caution from now on.
-
-
Grey said when you lock the apartment door the whole place basically disappears. Maybe she can’t knock out of there without unlocking the door?
-
…She may have to risk it Cole. Unless she is ready to face the storm here and now, I don’t see another way out.
-
-
Im sure, she is smart, that’s probably the first thing she did.
-
Once we have a plan, do we have a way to communicate with her? If the Storm is trying to get in through the phones, how can we get her a message with the plan?
-
Wait. How did she get the journal into the Brownstone if she’d already been trapped for 2 days? What are we missing?
-
I’m thinking she sent someone and it was thrown through the window
Edit: Would explain glass on the journal and nothing else besides her personal belongings being gone
-
How though? She can’t open the door, can’t use her phone…
-
Exactly! I have no idea. I’m sorry, I am not thinking straight…
-
Dont be sorry dude, this is scary and stressful, for all of us.
But we will get her out, you hear me? She is gonna be okay.
-
Could she have used a spell to make the journal teleport there? And it broke the window in its entrance to our world?
-
I don’t know who she could have sent to deliver the book, if anyone could leave she would.
-
That’s what I’m thinking. If she could have contacted us by now, Deirdre would off. There’s something fishy about all of this…
-
Mounties – focus on the message.
How did she get the journal through the glass window of the Brownstone. There has to be some loophole we’re missing!
-
That makes it a fishy circumstance. How did Deidre get the book there along with breaking a window.
-
I mean maybe SHE can’t though…like if she leaves the Storm could follow her, but if she just opened the door quickly and tossed something out…?
-
-
-
-
-
-
Is there any way to distract the storm? Draw its focus for a while?
-
Well, we could run out of the Council’s protection. That would be a really dumb, but effective distraction. Or we could do a really big spell.
-
-
She has to take a risk at this point. What else can she do really?
-
@Mr5yy I don’t know if thats what Deeds would want. However, I am willing to sacrifice my protection for her if it comes to that.
-
There has to be some other way; something we’ve missed.
-
I meant temporarily, and I think if we did a really big spell, that would do much better, like a signal flare.
-
I’ll take the hit.
It’ll be harder to reach me out here, where everything is in motion.
if anyone needs to step outside to give the storm a target it should be a moving one.
I’ll take up the shield and defend my family, while being a spear to draw the entity away.
but let hope it doesnt come to that.
-
Noooo. If anything we will try to do a giant spell, it would have roughly the same effect.
-
-
-
Thats actually brilliant 5! A big show of magic may distract the storm enough for her to make a getaway!
-
Ohhh, stories are a type of Magiq right? So let’s have everyone take part in writing a Story!!! It’s quick and easy to organize.
-
-
Okay, figure what you can do, what we know. I can’t do anything here. I’m going to Grey’s building.
-
Cole… I don’t suppose I can talk you out of it.
Goodluck, go save the Deidre Green, my magic and my heart are with you.
Love and Luck.
-
I’m going to talk him out of it: @CRSumner – we can’t lose you to the Storm. Use your head and not your heart. Stay away from that building until we figure something out!!!
