    Summer 2022 Update

    Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! It’s been a wild summer here in the Bernstein household.

    Quick summary:

    1. Spring was crazy with the whole migrating-the-forum to the new platform. It’s not without its major and minor issues, and I’m now circling back to address them and give a lot of love and attention to the app as well. The migration itself was such a journey that I needed a break afterward, but now I’m refreshed and ready to start phase two (Look at me attempting healthy boundaries and work-life balance!)
    2. With the migration finished and me taking a considerable amount of time off to recover from burnout, I thought summer would be a good time to remove my wisdom teeth (it was not.) Complications led to an arduous month + long recovery as I developed two dry sockets (shiver) and was basically in constant pain.
    3. But I did get a pretty funny video out of the whole ordeal. Here’s the TikTok I have no memory of making (and thankfully didn’t publish) on the day I came home from surgery (with a prescient prayer not to get dry sockets, I’m a prophet!):

    4. At the tail end of my oral surgery recovery, I got a nasty bout of COVID. I know it’s dumb, but I’d worn my two-year COVID avoidance like a badge of honor, so it knocked me on my ass both physically and mentally.

    5. We’d planned a family trip to the UK late in the summer, and thankfully, I recovered and tested negative just under the wire to travel. We went to London and Edinburgh, and I wish I were still in Scotland right now because that might be my favorite place on earth.

    6. Finally, I’m about… knee-deep into the current secret book I’m writing! Once I’m halfway in, I’ll feel more comfortable revealing more information about it, but so far, I’m really happy with the beast it’s shaping up to be!

    7. Finally, finally, I am starting to put together pieces of what the interactive future of Ackerly Green and my writing will look like next year and in the years beyond. This new platform will afford me the chance to do some really fun and interesting things that weren’t possible before.

    I’m also working on ways to make the experiential aspect of my books more evergreen so that new readers who discover them can go on the adventure themselves rather than just enjoy the souvenir of the experience. It’s going to be a big undertaking, but I think the change will be really helpful for me and more exciting for all of you in the long run.

    Wow that video sure was something ? 2 of my family members have Covid right now and I’m using all my willpower and hand sanitizer to try and avoid getting it.

    I’m also not great at navigating this new format yet? Idk I’m working on it.

    Oh man, they really did give you the good stuff! ?

    They kept me very much aware when I had my last three out last year (“just enough so you don’t really feel it, but enough where you know to open your mouth more if we ask”).

    I’m exhausted just reading about all the curveballs that have been thrown your way this year. I’m sorry that life decided to be so testy, but I’m glad you managed to navigate your way through it all.

    You sound like you’re doing really well, and it makes my heart happy to hear you were able to go on a wonderful trip with your family and recharge. You deserve to also experience wonder in the world around you, not just create that opportunity for others.

    I can’t wait to learn more about said secret book and what adventures you have planned for the future. ?

    Well well! Hope everything is going well nowadays.

    Also, Scotland is definitely one of my favorite places in the world. So I definitely get it. It’s also got HARD Ebbie vibes most of the time too.
