What is the Most Guild-Typical Quirky Item You Own?
Posted by cjheighton1998 on December 5, 2018 at 4:19 amHey all! Me and the discord bois (BWABWAHBWAAAAH) were talking, and i brought up the topic of weirdly balimoran things we all own. After a quick back and forth, i noticed how much conversation it seemed to draw. That got me thinking, maybe i oughta make a thread on this? It seems like a good thing to discuss?
So yeah! Whats your weirdest, guild related (balimora or not), quirky item you own? Pictures, descriptions, whatever works!

Just to start, the first thing that pops into mind is a huge chunk of flouride crystal i found in the river? Flouride? Florite? The stuff in toothpaste and flourescent lighting! Its big and bright green and really pretty.
The first thing that comes to mind thats over here is this random treebranch i sanded with the intent of turning into a walking stick a while ago thats been sitting here for a year now and still isnt done xD
on the upside its v. Pretty owo

I thought I had an answer and then I realized I couldn’t narrow it down to one “most guild-y” thing. There’s too much. I am a stereotype of myself.
-
LOL that was me last night, looking for Bali items. “Well, the mannequin is a little random…No wait that’s totally Flinter”, “Um, the sewing machine? The three-tiered cart filled with stationary supplies?” “Wait, no, what about the box of crystals and the stack of books on Erte and costume history?”
-
-
i mean, this is a pretty general conversation, im sure nobody has one specific item they love exclusively in a question like this. feel free to just share whatever, not like theres a specific structure here >w<
-
Right now, with what I brought to my apartment for this semester, I’d say that my fake books are a great representation of Balimora and Thornmouth. I have two fake books made of wood on my bookcase, Moby Dick and Sister Carrie. They’re really spacious and look practically real from the spine point-of-view. Inside I keep special journals and life mementos, not hidden from anyone specifically, but it’s nice to know I have my own little secret nooks and crannies where I live.
-
I’d have to say it’s the shear randomness of my books.
-
I feel that I speak for all present when I say “Can you please post a pic of all your Laptop stickers??”
-
Lol. That also works.

Is that Log Horizon I see? I loved the anime and bought the first novel a few years back, but I didn’t have the Japanese skills to read it back then, and so somehow haven’t gotten around to reading it xD I should get to that soon ><
Also, nice to see someone else who loves horses on this forum~
-
Yep, it is Log Horizon. I absolutely love the anime and since it was never continued I started reading them. I also do love horses. It’s one of my University majors and I just finished training and selling my assigned filly last week. I can pm a picture if you want.
-
Yes, that was also why I bought the first volume of the novel back before the translations were released, I was super interested to see how it continued and then I couldn’t read it and sort of gave up, so I should find some time to get back to it soon
That’s so cool, I’d love to see a picture! I’ve been riding horses since I was about six, but then after university I moved and there are hardly any horses here, so I had to give up on it

Ok now I’m just curious about everyone’s laptop stickers.
Here are my aggressively thorn stickers to start things off:
I also have a bunch of books from 1898-1940 that I snag from thrift stores, festivals, popup markets, etc.
They’re at home but I can send a pic in a week or so. They’re so pretty
-
I have a reading glass for fine print (this lives on my shelf) and a pocket sized extendible telescope for spur of the moment birdwatching (I actually keep this in my purse)
-
I have a book that’s called “The Book of Useless Information” and it’s honestly my favorite book
-
A stack of old books in foreign languages I barely know. One of which is a 200-year-old Swedish psalm book I found in a local book store for $8.
-
I’m pretty sure these are Flinterforge items: my dissection kit and Foldscope paper microscope that I can carry around with me, including slides and specimen containers.
-
I believe my most Ebenguardian stuff is probably my entire altar. All the tarot cards, books, crystals and runes I use with scrying, and the notebooks full of my thoughts about readings. My ancestral mask falls into that category, too. Not sure if anyone else would find these to be particularly Ebenguardian, but I’ve talked about why I find these to be related to the guild in other forums. It’s not all combat magic! (Though my altar could use a rad dagger, just sayin)
-
I literally possess like five different staffs all nearly the same height as myself, as well, as the fact that I have just random junk ive collected off of whims throughout the years.
-
The most ebenguardian thing I have is my Magic The Gathering (from Wizards of the Coast™!) filing cabinet, I have yet to sort it out but eh

Let’s see seeing as I have taken the test 4 times and gotten the same two guilds (Thornmouth my first two, Gossmere my second two) ill just give some quirky items for both!
Gossmere: According to the Healer portion I have my medic kit along, which I carry at basically all times. (I can go more in depth into that later if someone wishes) For the great champion portion I have in my wallet the speech Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote in preparedness if the invasion of D-Day failed as it reminds me to strive to be a good person even if the odds are stacked against me. For the teacher I have my notes on which I write near anything I find of importance.
Thornmouth: Scholar & Teacher I have the notes as listed above. Now there is one item that i’m not sure what category it falls under but I have an old rusted key that I was given by my step-brother when I first met him along with the words “I’m sure you’ll find a use for this eventually” We have never spoken of it since then but I still find the words a little interesting.
So those were my guild items, I hope you guys enjoyed! Also if you guys want a picture of that key I can do that tomorrow

This was tough for me, I couldnt think of many I had that fit Ebenguard. I do have a lot of self help books, those might fit well with the theme…
-
For Balimora a few things come to mind. I have a deer leg bone that I picked up in the woods when I was about seven and a stone with the impression of an ammonite shell that my dad gave me when I went to college. He also made me a staff out of a tree branch.
On the Thornmouth side, probably my (every growing) collection of mythology and folklore books, my various volumes/notes on invented and inventing languages, and a copy of The Highly Selective Thesaurus for the Extraordinarily Literate. The title was too fun to pass up.
-
Honestly, I don’t think I really have anything that’s like token Ebenguard, but for Flinterforge, I hoard art supplies.
-
-
That’s a whole mood. I can’t count the number of sticks I have lying about at any given time. Granted, I mindlessly whittle them so they disappear quickly.
-
I grabbed this particular stick because I thought it would be an interesting texture and shape to try to paint.
-
-
-
I’m sorry I can’t contribute a picture, but I have a few things that might be Balimoran:
I have an carved stone arrowhead and some fulgurite pieces (the product of lightning striking sand)
-
-
Probably this – it’s a divining watch from the 60s. You spin the knob on the top and the hand whirs around until it lands on a symbol.
-
-
I was looking for an alethiometer replica online and came across this instead! It’s from a seller on Etsy who collects antique watches.
-
Ah, I was going to say it reminded me of the alethiometer!

As an Ebenguard the only things that really come to mind are my collection of prop swords and my dueling grade lightsabers from Ultra Sabers.
This is a real photo, btw. No special effects or editing. I honestly really lucked out with how well this one turned out!
And here’s both my babies.
I’ve always thought of myself as a Grey Jedi and being in Ebenguard really enforces that particular belief of my character.
-
I struggled with this one for a while but for Thornmouth I suppose it would likely be my hourglass. Time-shifting affinity or something like that. It’s quirky because of how big it is; it’s actually an hourglass. For measuring an hour.
-
I suppose this probably explains my hourglass necklace… (I’d take a pic, but I’m not sure where it is atm.)

weirdly, i will have to find it again for a photo reference because i’ve kept it so long- i have a very copper-rusted penny where it’s perfectly blue-green corroded over lincoln’s face to look like a skull where his face should be. i couldn’t really toss it with the rest of my coins, it looked too interesting to pass up. i feel like if i can find it again in my things, i’ll have to make it a necklace, or something.
